The report noted Iran's struggling economy, with rocketing inflation and a record-low currency, and included analysis of the challenges of enforcing sanctions given trading partners such as China and India, as well as a separate trade dispute with Canada.

Holidaymakers returning to the UK were urged to check their suitcases after a rise in non-native species stowing away in luggage, with the National Centre for Reptile Welfare reporting that calls about discovered creatures had more than doubled. Director Chris Newman said the most common finds were lizards and geckos, but also snakes, scorpions and frogs, and advised people to contain any animals and contact the centre.
