In a separate incident on Friday, Israeli forces raided the Nablus Specialized Hospital, where two injured Palestinians had been taken after the initial clash. The military said it apprehended two people involved in the killing of the soldiers. The hospital director said staff were among those detained. Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), which operates in the area, reported that medical staff were held at gunpoint and forced to lie on the floor while the hospital was searched. MSF's head of mission described the raid as a clear violation of humanitarian law, noting that hospitals should be safe spaces even in conflict.
The violence has raised fears of a wider escalation in the West Bank, where tensions have been high for months. Palestinian residents say they face constant pressure from both the Israeli army and armed settlers, and that Israeli lives are valued far higher than Palestinian ones.
