The bulletin led with new rules announced for England and Wales under which killers who refuse to face victims' families at sentencing could lose privileges or be kept in cells for several weeks, with visitor access lost for up to a month and less severe restrictions for younger offenders. Gas workers Neil Armstrong and John Wright were found guilty of ten counts of gross negligence manslaughter after ten people died in a gas explosion at a block of flats in Jersey in 2022, and Island Energy was found guilty of two counts of breaking health and safety laws.

In an interview, Chancellor John Healey called Jackdaw a small but valuable contribution, set out an energy wealth fund using additional North Sea oil and gas revenues for clean energy, said Rosebank was for the energy secretary's legal process, defended budget fiscal discipline and said tax decisions would come next week.
