What was reported
A plain summary of this topic, built from the channels that covered it.
On 30 August 2026, police were called to a property in Sheffield over concerns for a baby's welfare. A baby girl was found dead at the scene, and a post-mortem later established she had died from stab wounds. On 2 September, four adults appeared at Sheffield Magistrates Court charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice. A 15-year-old girl was also charged with perverting the course of justice. The adults were remanded in custody and are due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court. Police urged the public not to speculate online while the legal process continues. The coverage noted the distressing nature of the case, but the details of the defendants' names and ages varied between channels.
